Cities Skylines 2: Electricity & Water
Hello, city planners! Welcome back to another episode of the Cities: Skylines II development diary. Today, we’re diving into the electrifying world of Electricity and Water services! These two elements are the lifeblood of any city. Without electricity or water, buildings falter and citizens suffer. A shortage can lead to plummeting Well-being levels for citizens, and if there’s a water scarcity or sewage backup, expect Health to also decline. Neglecting these basic amenities? Well, your citizens won’t stand for it for long; they’ll pack up and leave. On the business side, a dip in these services can spell a decline in Efficiency, impacting production, service output, and quality. So, without further ado, let’s delve into the mechanics of these crucial services.
The mechanics of setting up electricity and water grids in Cities: Skylines II have evolved from its predecessor. Now, both utilities can be seamlessly channeled via roads. In the original Cities: Skylines, power was transmitted by linking power lines to dedicated electrical zones around structures. In this sequel, buildings get powered by either overhead cables or subterranean wiring. While the dynamics of surface water and pump systems retain similarities across both editions, Cities: Skylines II ushers in an innovative twist with the inclusion of groundwater reservoirs.
