Cities Skylines 2: Electricity Distribution

Cities Skylines 2: Electricity Distribution

Electricity management has evolved beyond just connecting “electric zones” established by buildings. Now, it’s about equipping your city with a comprehensive power network. Power plants and Transformer Stations directly supply electricity to this network using electric cables, which can be interconnected via high voltage power lines. Every power line and cable comes with a capacity limit, dictating the amount of electricity it can transport. If this limit is exceeded, it results in a bottleneck, causing disruptions in electricity distribution. Buildings constructed or zoned next to roads are automatically connected to this electric grid. However, buildings situated away from roads require manual connection.

ELECTRICITY BOTTLENECKS

When a specific city region demands more electricity than the grid’s capacity, power interruptions arise. Buildings within this region experience outages because the electric infrastructure can’t cater to all their needs, often due to limited connections to the city’s main power grid.

Addressing this requires enhancing the electricity connections in the affected region. This can be achieved by constructing more roads or establishing low voltage connections via electric cables. Alternatively, Transformer Stations and power lines can be employed to bypass the troubled zone. By strategically placing a Transformer Station past the affected region and connecting it directly to the power plant using a power line, electricity can be routed through multiple pathways, ensuring consistent power supply and bypassing the bottleneck.
