How to Fix the Road Tool Yellow Screen Bug

Special credits to SonoSooS for discovering the fix. If you run this game with a low-end integrated graphic card like me, then it’s very likely you’ll encounter this bug. Upon clicking on the road tools, the entire map turns yellow, rendering everything including rivers invisible. This basically makes the game unplayable. Then you’ll probably try to mess with those graphic settings, which unfortunately won’t work.

So how do I fix this bug?

Here’s the proper way to fix this bug:
1. Steam, right click Cities:Skylines 2, Properties. In General, add –developerMode into the launch options.

2. Load into your savegame/Start a new game, press Tab. After a few seconds of freezing, a slightly transparent black window will pop up on the left.

3. Click on GameRendering (2nd row, 3rd option).

4. Scroll down using scrollwheel or touchpad, dropdown arrow with name “Custom passes”. Click on the arrow to open it.

5. 2nd checkbox, uncheck Tunnel Pass. This will get rid of the invisible yellow tint, but underground roads will be invisible (you have to find underground roads using the road upgrade tool or the bulldozer).

6. You can hide the debug window by pressing Tab again.

I have tested the fix works for my Intel Iris Xe integrated graphic card.

This is my first ever guide on Steam, hope you’ll enjoy and feel free to leave a feedback!

    Thank you sooooooooooooooo much.
People have said playing this game with a bad graphics card is bad, but i haven’t yet experienced any problems other than this (but I have to play on the lowest graphic settings).

I followed the option to add -developerMode into the launch options in the properties. However, pressing tab in the game does nothing. Is this the only way of getting to these settings?
