Cities Skylines 2: Climate & Seasons
Greetings, city-builders, and thanks for joining us in today’s Cities: Skylines II development diary! In our previous session, we delved deep into the world of Maps and Themes. Today, we’re thrilled to spotlight two groundbreaking map additions: Climate and Seasons. For a visual treat, don’t miss out on the accompanying video provided below.
While in the original Cities: Skylines, map themes primarily influenced the visual ambiance and environmental aesthetics to emulate distinct climates, their functionalities were largely identical. So, if you played in two separate boreal cities, you’d witness identical climatic conditions and day lengths. However, in Cities: Skylines II, we’re revolutionizing this by introducing Climates! This new addition not only brings dynamic seasonal changes but also bestows each map with its unique climatic identity, inspired by real-world locations. From the frosty landscapes of the Finnish countryside in the North to the sun-soaked terrains of Brisbane in the South, the new Climate feature ensures authenticity. Now, the day’s duration, weather fluctuations, and seasonal transitions align seamlessly with the map’s geographical location and latitude.
