Cities Skylines 2 May Offer the Road Fix Long Awaited in CS1

The road systems in Cities Skylines 2 (CS2) seem to be receiving a notable upgrade, with Colossal Order potentially incorporating dedicated turning lanes, a feature notably absent in Cities Skylines 1 (CS1).

The revamping of road systems in CS2 is underway, as seen with the introductions of roundabouts, enhanced highway ramps, and smarter traffic AI enabling Cims to utilize all available lanes. One vital feature that remained elusive in CS1 was the capability to establish dedicated turning lanes, guiding vehicles away from proceeding straight at intersections. While CS1 offered some makeshift solutions, CS2 appears to be integrating dedicated turn lanes seamlessly, as demonstrated in recent gameplay footage shared by Colossal Order.

CS2 is addressing numerous minor yet intricate issues encountered in the original city-building adventure. The economic aspect is more refined, power lines now run subterraneously, and even seasonal weather has been introduced. As we inch closer to the release date of CS2, one particular road feature has been keenly anticipated, and now it seems to be on the horizon.

Managing traffic in Cities Skylines has always been a challenge, particularly during the construction of major roads where directing Cims to divert at specific intersections is crucial. While the creation of parallel roads or utilization of mods has provided some remedy, the innate ability in CS2 to prevent vehicles from proceeding straight in some lanes, ushering them into turn-off lanes instead, would be a significant relief. A glimpse of this feature is evident in the latest CS2 gameplay stream, showcasing a specific road-building tool.

It appears our traffic management predicaments in Cities Skylines may finally be drawing to a close. Concurrently, a significant feature of CS2, initially thought to be omitted in the base game, has now been hinted by Colossal Order to possibly be included after all.

As we anticipate the arrival of CS2, we invite you to explore everything concerning Cities Skylines 2 DLC. We have also compiled all the essential information on the larger and more diverse maps in CS2, expanding beyond what was available in the original game.
