SimCity 2013’s Modular Building Was a Great Addition
SimCity possesses a unique modular building system that sets it apart from other city-building games. Civic and emergency services are integral to any city-builder, and players typically have to erect repetitive structures as their city grows. Consequently, their city becomes overpopulated with schools, hospitals, police stations, and other civic buildings. While this is a fundamental aspect of Cities Skylines, SimCity adopted an innovative approach to it.
SimCity presents an exceptional feature that enables players to upgrade certain buildings with additional pieces. By incorporating more cells or car garages to a police station, more classrooms to schools, helicopter pads to fire stations, and multiple building upgrades for the resident superhero, players can enhance various aspects of that service. These upgrades can be placed anywhere on the building as per the player’s preference. This innovative addition animates service buildings, and is one of the most remarkable accomplishments of SimCity 2013.
Cities Skylines 2 gameplay has not yet been revealed by Paradox, leaving the possibility that some of the features already exist. The modular building system seems to be the most plausible addition, but a form of multiplayer could also be in the works. Until Paradox Interactive unveils more information, it is uncertain. However, if these features are not present, they should be taken into account.
